2016 Shea Vineyard Pinot Noir
What would you expect from a vintage that delivers power and size and a vineyard that is known for producing big and intense Pinot Noir? Not exactly what you might think and there in lies the beauty of the Wadensvil clone paired with the Shea Vineyard soils. I have always appreciated how the Wadensvil clone injects an element of elegance to this naturally robust site and in 2016 it is just what the doctor ordered. With plenty of dark Pinot fruit and structure the balance of this wine is what really shines and will carry it over the next 10-15 years.

Bright ruby-red. Powerful, sharply focused aromas of ripe red berries, potpourri and exotic spices are lifted by a smoky mineral nuance. Broad, seamless and concentrated on the palate, offering intense raspberry, bitter cherry and spicecake flavors that show impressive energy and a sweetening floral pastille quality on the back half. In a generous yet graceful style, betraying no rough edges and finishing with strong mineral drive and velvety tannins that come in late.
